drawing a straight line

I'm reading an interesting book by Jane H. James called 'Perspective Drawing - A Point of View'. In it she talks about how to draw a straight line. This is what she says...

"Put two dots on your paper fairly apart. Put your pencil on one dot and keep your eye on the other. Draw the pencil smoothly and not too slowly from the first to the second dot. Your line will be quite straight if you have remembered to keep your eye on where you are going, not on where you have been.”

Very thought provoking indeed.

  2. Not too slow and not too fast... most of students start by doing the line then end them fast... after they have learned to complete their lines at the same speed they smile from satisfaction and gain more confidence. This is one of the best ways to improve our drawing skill and it helps on saving a lot of time.
    Bravo!
